6 Weeks Old!

New things this week!
  • Nora slept for 7 uninterrupted hours last night! Woo hoo!
  • She is FINALLY smiling :D She melts my heart
  • I had register training last week and my orientation is tomorrow for the Apple Orchard
  • I got a phone call the other day for a dream job. I went to an interview yesterday and it felt like such a good fit. I would be working with the county (great schedule, better pay, benefits) working with at risk families. Basically I will be doing home visits with pregnant women and families with children under 3 and educating them on childcare and providing them with resources in the community. I will hear back soon and hopefully I will know if they want me to come in for a second interview!
  • Nursing is still going great. Nora is getting chunky! I can't wait to see what she weighs! She wakes up usually around 2 or 3am to nurse and then again around 6 or 7am. I have been pumping every chance I get so my freezer supply is getting pretty big! I'm so proud of it!

Look at that smile! I love her more and more every single day!

Week 5

Miss Nora is quite the character! I still don't think she has the social smile mastered yet, but we're working on it! She's very nosy and needs to see everything! We're still going strong with nursing so hopefully we can keep it up after I start working! I have 80+ ounces stored in the freezer so we should be good to go!

Loves getting her diaper changed
Loves her baths
Loves eating
Hates the hiccups
Still isn't a fan of her pacifier
Still sleeps in her swing because I'm too afraid she'll wake up an hour later
Awake for 2 hours and naps for 2-3 hours
Sleeps 5-6 hours at night followed by 3 hour increments of sleep
Loves falling asleep on female chests (boobs as pillows!)

She still loves playing on her mat. This is a lifesaver most days because I can put her down and go eat, get dressed, etc.
Well, I got a job at the Apple Orchard! It's not exactly the job that I applied for, but they said if I wanted a cashiers position, they'd hire me on the spot. I worked with cash registers for seven years... so they wanted me! I'm leary about how much they want to work me... and I'm very nervous to ask about time off the floor to pump! I am happy and grateful that I have a job though. This will give me a few months to apply for a more permanent position somewhere else.

Sleepin on her dad
We decided to do a little photo shoot of Nora in our house and they turned out so cute! Bryan took the pictures and we can't wait to print them out for our families!

One Month Old

Well, Miss Nora changes every single day! She is becoming more alert and more active. It's so fun to watch her learn new things. She LOVES her play mat and her mobile. She loves to look around... and now she kicks her legs and swings those arms! It's like she's trying so hard to reach it. It's so cute.

Looking at her mobile... and kicking so hard her socks are falling off!

So much more alert!

My pretty girl

She's getting big!
Not only is she more alert and more attentive, she's developing a little personality of her own! Proof? This picture.

She's devising a plan!
We hang out all day at the house. We get on a nice routine and there is very little fussing or crying! She wakes up around 5AM, gets changed, eats in bed with me, and we both fall asleep in bed until 8AM or so. Sometimes we get up.. and other times we fall back asleep in bed until 11AM. We get up, eat, get dressed, and she is awake playing and hanging out for 2 hours, sleep for 3 hours all day. She usually falls asleep for the night around 10PM, sleeps til 3AM, sometimes falls right back asleep after eating.... and sometimes staying awake for 2 hours :(
She's been sleeping in 5-6 hour stretches at night which I am grateful for! The past couple days I think she's been going through a growth spurt though... because she sleeps all day. I can't get her to stay awake! All she's been doing is sleeping and eating all day long... and then is energized and fussy at night. Bleh... we have to get back on track!

Hanging out with mom!

I have a job interview Tuesday so hopefully I will have a job soon! I don't want to leave her, but knowing she'll be with my mom makes me feel better. I've been researching ways to build my nursing supply so I don't run out of pumped milk while I'm at work. I have a huge stash in the freezer already, but I'm still worried. In a bottle, she can eat 4-5oz in one sitting. It takes me 2 pumping sessions to get that much... sometimes more! I've been pumping more often (every time she naps, before bed, and in the middle of the night) and I've been getting more output. Now I'm just afraid she's going to be getting too much foremilk because of my oversupply. Bleh... the stresses of nursing!

I've joined some breastfeeding groups on Facebook and I've been researching all kinds of things. It's empowering to have support from other nursing women. It's frustrating sometimes to always have a baby attached to me (especially when I want to take a shower and all she wants to do is use me as a pacifier (she takes it sometimes from other people, but doesn't really like it. She never takes it from me). It's all worth it when she stops crying instantly when I hold her or while nursing she rubs my skin with her little hand and stares at my face. It reminds me how much she needs me.

Sleeping, sleeping, sleeping!
My parents have been taking good care of us. My mom has that "grandma" touch that instantly calms Nora. She's great at keeping her calm so I can get some stuff done. Nora loves staring at my dad. His dark furry face intrigues her. He bought her this patchwork lion from the zoo and she LOVES staring at it.
I don't think this is a real smile, but I caught it on camera!

One Month!
Still nursing like a champ
Wearing 0-3 month clothes (but in between sizes for pants!)
Snap up 3 month footed pajamas are too small but the zip up 3 month pajamas are too big! Why? No idea!
Wearing size 1 diapers
LOVES being talked to, fans, watching faces, and staring at the blinds
Likes to stare at her dad when he gets home from work
Loves her baths!
Isn't too crazy about her binky
Hates having her boogers sucked and her clothes changed
LOVES sleeping in bed with mom in the morning

We went to the summer festival uptown tonight and I got to try out my Moby wrap! Nora and I were a little toasty so we took a little break, but for the most part she loved it! She didnt like keeping her head in like this until the end because she was tired. I just held her head while she leaned her head out and explored the world. I would love to explore other options for babywearing... we'll see!

Week 3

Princess is growing so fast!
She notices so much now. It's exciting (and helps me to get some stuff done around the house!) She doesn't sleep in her crib yet, but we'll get there soon enough! We moved the swing into her room which is working so far. It's nice to be able to roll over in bed or cough without fear of waking her up!
Nora loves to look at her mobile and all her toys in her crib

My mom gave Nora her first bath and she HATED it. She screamed the entire time. She cried again when Bryan gave her one, but then loved the one I gave her! I'm hoping she gets used to it because its so sad to hear her scream the entire time!
She HATED her first bath
Chubby bunny had her doctor's appointment Tuesday afternoon! She gained almost a pound, grew 2 inches, and her noggin grew 3 centimeters! Her stats are now 8 pounds 8 ounces, 20 3/4 inches, and her head is 37cm. Everything at her appointment went well. The doctor noticed her hair getting blonde and made a comment about her furry little body!
She grew out of all of her newborn clothes and is starting to grow out of her 3 month sleepers! Her legs are so long and her feet are so big that she doesn't fit in those footed sleepers anymore. She's a sweaty girl so we've been putting her in a onesie at night.
I love those chubby little legs
She has been sleeping one 5 hour stretch in the middle of the night followed by a couple 3 hour stretches. The other night she surprised us and slept for 6 hours and then 5 hours! Woo hoo! That's not typical though... but we can hope this is leading to better sleep patterns!

Nursing is still going well. She's a little piggy and eats a ton, but that's alright with me. I was worried about my low output when pumping so I started to pump more often and drink more water. It has helped! We bring bottles when we go out so I can do what I need to do and she can still eat. Bryan loves to feed her too! She doesn't like the bottle or the pacifier more than me... so that makes me happy :)

I love it when she falls asleep on me after nursing

Sleeping next to mom in the morning

That look!

I started applying for jobs unfortunately... so hopefully something comes up soon. I don't want to leave my monkey, but we have to pay the bills! I love hanging out with her all day. She's a good girl and loves hanging out with her Momma!

She's so sweet
